PML candidates see Pervaiz

LAHORE, Feb 11: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi said on Saturday under the leadership of President Pervez Musharraf, all parliamentary institutions were furthering the process of supremacy of law and public service.

Due to measures taken by the president, democratic system had been strengthened in the country, leading to the resolution of people’s problems, he said while talking to the PML-nominated candidates for Senate elections here at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.

The chief minister said Punjab had always shunned parochialism and emphasized the need for a national consensus for resolving the issues.

He said the PML was the only national party which had a democratic thinking and was playing a historic role in the promotion of national solidarity.

Due to the party’s democratic approach, national issues were being resolved in an amicable manner and democratic traditions were strengthening in the country.

The chief minister said the PML was completing a record number of development projects in the light of its manifesto. The reforms process initiated by the government had improved the performance of public sector departments, resulting in relief to the masses.

He said that because of its positive thinking and accommodating attitude the PML had emerged as a strong political force and its roots had deepened in the masses.

The chief minister congratulated PML members for receiving party tickets for the Senate election and hoped that they would play their due role in promoting the agenda of public welfare.

Those who called on the chief minister included S.M. Zafar, Jamal Leghari, Haroon Akthar, Javaid Ashraf Qazi, Muhammad Ali Durrani, Javaid Ali Shah, Naeem Chattha, Mrs. Nilofar Bakhtiar and Mrs. Gulshan Saeed.
