LAHORE, Feb 11: A farmer of Malianwali (Chak No 537) has appealed to the irrigation authorities to order a probe into unannounced release of water in Mananwala Rajbah which caused a 10-foot breach near Burji No 101, inundating his over six acres of wheat crop.
In a statement, Saif Ali said the Mananwala Rajbah was being bricklined by contractor Tahir, a resident of Kujar village. He said the contractor had flattened the banks of the Mananwala Rajbah from Burji No 101 onwards, but did not dig in the supporting nullah for the passage of water to the tail-ends.
He said his six acres were located right in front of Burji No 101, Gogera Branch, from where the contractor had razed the banks of the rajbah.
Saif Ali said more cusecs of water were released in the canal which caused a 10-foot breach near Burji No 101 and his six acres under wheat crop had been submerged from three to four feet.
He said despite repeated requests, the irrigation authorities of the Mananwala Rajbah did not visit the scene besides showing ignorance as to who had ordered the release of water in the Rajbah.
Saif has appealed to the authorities concerned to order probe into the matter and announce compensation for his damaged wheat crop.
