PESHAWAR, Feb 11: The Board of Trustees, Endowment Fund Project, on Saturday reviewed the functioning of the project. Fund director Dr Azzamul Asar informed the meeting that Rs130 million were available with the university that were being utilized in various development programmes.

He told the meeting held with NWFP UET vice-chancellor Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gilani in the chair that under the faculty development programme 10 scholars had been sent to foreign universities to pursue PhD while five MSc students had completed their course.

It was decided to increase the scholarship amount from $650 to $1,000 to those pursuing their PhD in foreign universities.

Dr Asar said the university had established link with University of Bradford and University of Strathclyde to pursue split PhD and added that three faculty members had been placed under this programme.

The board agreed to invest in potential banks to get high interest rate. It was recommended to hold review meetings on a monthly basis to monitor the progress of PhD scholars.

The meeting decided to start merit-based admissions for the teaching faculty in Computer Science, Information Technology department, and other disciplines.
