ISLAMABAD, Feb 10: Mourners all over Pakistan observed Ashura, the 10th of Muharram, on Thursday and paid tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions for their great sacrifice in Karbala for the universal principles of justice and truth.
Faithfuls took out processions of Tazia and Zuljinah and performed Zanjeerzani.
Zakireen in their speeches on the occasion explained the philosophy of their great sacrifice and its impact on humanity.
Majalis-i-Sham-i-Ghariban were held at Imambargahs in the evening.
In Islamabad, the main procession of Alam and Zuljinah was taken out from Markazi Imambargah G-6/2.
In Rawalpindi, the main procession was taken out from Imambargah Col Maqbool Hussain on College Road in the morning, which concluded after passing through its traditional route at Imambargah Qadeemi at Banni in the evening.
Zakireen and religious scholars delivered special sermons at Fawara Chowk, highlighting the great sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions for the glory of Islam.
In Karachi, the main procession concluded peacefully at Imambargah Husainian Iranian, Kharadar.
The mourners walked through Numaish, Capri Cinema, Saddar, Regal Chowk and offered Zuhrain prayers at M A Jinnah Road near Tibet Centre at 2pm.
They re-started the journey on M A Jinnah Road and reached Imambargah Husainian Iranian before Maghrib Prayers to attend Majlis-i-Sham-i-Ghariban.
In Lahore, the main Zuljinah procession was taken out from Nisar Haveli. After passing through Masjid Wazir Khan, Dabbi Bazaar, Rang Mahal, Said Mitha Bazaar, Bazaar Hakiman and Bhati Gate, it terminated at Karbala Gamey Shah.
A large number of Tazia and Alam processions, taken out from different parts of the city, merged with the main Zuljinah procession en route.
In Peshawar, the processions were taken out from Sain Gulab Shah Imambargah, Imambargah Haidriya and Imambargah Bibi Sahiba.
The day was observed in Quetta with reverence and solemnity and in a peaceful manner. The main Tazia and Zuljinah procession was taken out from Alamdar Road. Passing through Toghi Road, Mission Chowk and Prince Road, it terminated at the Imambargah on Alamdar Road.—APP
