JACOBABAD: 600,000 quacks in country: PMA

JACOBABAD, Feb 10: Office bearers of the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) have said that around 600,000 quacks are working in the country who are unaware of side-effects of medicines.

Talking to newsmen at a press conference PMA local chapter general secretary Dr Wahid Bux Leghari and others said that lethal diseases like hepatitis-B and C were spreading mainly due to use of one syringe for many patients.

They said there were around 150 quacks and dispensers working in eight union councils of Jacobabad. The doctors advised people to get them treated by qualified doctors.

They appealed to the district nazim and the DCO to take action against the nonqualified physicians.—Correspondent
