KARACHI, Feb 10: The Sindh Minister for Labour, Transport, Industries, Commerce and Cooperation, Muhammad Ali Siddiqui, on Friday urged concerned officials to get the Sessi Kidney Centre in Landhi functioning on priority basis.
Speaking at a meeting with officials of the Sindh Employees Social Security Institution (Sessi) on improvement of medical facilities under the social security scheme, the minister said he wanted the centre to start functioning without delay. Project Director Dr Haseeb was present there.
The minister advised the Director General (Civil) of the Sindh Workers Welfare Board (SWWB), Zafar Saleem, to expedite the purchase of equipment for the centre.
He also advised the Commissioner Sessi, RB Phulpoto, to look into the matter and remove any bottlenecks in the project.
He further advised bringing significant improvement in all medical outlets of Sessi within three months, which included cleanness and hygiene, punctuality of staff, behaviour with patients, availability of medicines, etc.
He recalled that about 70 per cent of Sessi’s budget was being spent on medical facilities while the required modern equipment had been provided by the SWWB to Sessi.
“It is the duty of the concerned officers to make sure that all these were used beneficially,” he added. The Sessi’s Medical Adviser, Dr Muhammad Akram, and other officials were present on the occasion.—PPI
