Ashura today: steps taken to ensure peace

ISLAMABAD, Feb 8: The Youm-i-Ashur will be observed on Thursday (Feb 9) across the country to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA). Special prayers will be offered in mosques and Imambargahs after Fajr prayers.

Tazia, Alam and Zuljinah processions will be taken out in all cities and towns, which after passing through their traditional routes will terminate at main Imambargahs and other destinations.

Police and law enforcing agencies have made elaborate security arrangements to ensure that no untoward incident take place during the day. A number of medical aid camps will be set up along the routes of processions by the private social welfare organizations. Sabeels of water and Sherbat will also be set up.

Zakireen, Naatkhwan and religious scholars will highlight the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions.—APP
