KARACHI, Feb 8: The main mourning procession of 9th Muharram-ul-Haram started from the Imambargah Shah–i-Khurasan near Nishtar Park at 1.30pm and terminated at the Imambargah Anjuman-i-Iranian, Kharadar, at 7.20pm.

The mourners offered prayers at the Imambargah Ali Raza on the MA Jinnah Road and then proceeded on the same road. From Capri Cinema, they turned towards Saddar and Regal Chowk. From there, they took a U-turn at the Tibet Centre for the MA Jinnah Road.

The mourners passing through the MA Jinnah Road arrived in Kharadar after passing through Jama Cloth and Bolton markets. The processions included the alam, taziya and zuljinnah.

Earlier, Allama Talib Jauhri delivered the Zikr-i-Hussain to the Central Majlis-i-Ashur at Nishtar Park. Tight security arrangements were made.

The City Nazim, Syed Mustafa Kamal, visited the designated routes of Ashura processions to see the necessary civic and security arrangements.

Anwar Ali, an organiser told APP that on the 10th of Muharram-ul-Haram, the central majlis would be held at Nishtar Park at 8am, which would be addressed by Allama Talib Jauhri.

The main procession would start from Nishtar Park at around 9am and would march on the same designated route of Wednesday. The mourners will offer prayers at the Tibet Centre on the MA Jinnah Road.

The procession would terminate at the Imambargah Anjuman-i-Iranian by 5pm.

The participants would then go to hold Sham-i-Gharibaan at their area imambargahs for half an hour.—APP
