LONDON, Feb 7: A high-level judicial delegation led by the Chief Justice of Pakistan would be arriving here on Monday for a week-long visit to review the UK-Pakistan judicial protocol on matters relating to children.

The team comprising Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Faqir Muhammad Khokar, Chief Justice Azad Kashmir High Court, Justice Reaz Akhtar Chaudhry and Deputy Attorney-General Naheeda Mehboob Elahi will hold talks with their British counterparts on Monday in a ‘panel discussion’.

The British side is expected to be represented by Lord Justice Thorpe, Justice Gillen, Justice Singer, Lady Anne Smith and other officials.

The judicial officials of Pakistan will “exchange perspectives between the UK and Pakistani judiciary on the workings and operation of the ‘UK-Pakistan Judicial Protocol on Children Matters’ with a view to addressing any points of concern and identifying areas for improvement”.

The two sides will discuss the “workings of the protocol” and review “progress on agreed guidelines”.

Under the protocol, signed in 2003, the two countries agreed to provide expeditious justice to aggrieved persons seeking legal assistance in cases relating to wrongful and illegal removal of children, child custody cases and family disputes.
