KARACHI: 18 samples sent to CDGK lab

KARACHI, Feb 7: Food inspectors of the city government’s health regulation and quality control department on Tuesday collected 18 samples of confectionery items, betel nut and bottled water from various parts of the city and sent them to the CDGK laboratory for testing.

They said that appropriate action would be taken against the manufacturers and sellers of the products if found substandard.

The department has also advised people to ensure that their children did not consume substandard sweets, toffees, etc., as this might expose them to various diseases. Certain ENT diseases, they pointed out, were on the rise in the city due to the consumption of such items.

It warned manufacturers and sellers of substandard items no to play with the health and life of their consumers, especially children.—PPI
