KARACHI, Feb 7: Five ships carrying palm oil, general cargo and containers are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Wednesday, according to KPT sources.
Cargo handling activity fell to a lowest level owing to lesser handling of both export and import tonnage, falling to 23,928 tons comprising 5,110 tons of export cargo and 18,818 tons of import tonnage.
Berthing activity at the wharves was modest where four ships — Hanjin Busan, Mol Asante, to unload and load containers, Ducky Symphony, to offload cars, and Stolt Alliance, to unload chemicals, were berthed.
Five ships — Ever Guide, Duck Symphony, Ilse Wuff, Chemstar Princess and Stolt Alliance — departed on Tuesday, while Zanie Griva, Caludius, Mol Asante and Kota Waris are due to sail out on Wednesday.
The following ships are due on Wednesday: Asia Star, with 16,500 tons of palm oil, Swat, with 65,000 tons of crude oil, Y.M. Sun, Iran Shahryar, with containers, and Haje Khaereh, with general cargo.
The following ships are due on Thursday and Friday: APL Orchid, Thor Captain, Conti Harmony and orient Independence, with containers, Mariner-G.R., with 37.803 tons of coal, Chemstar Belle, with base oil, Shalamar, with crude oil, Benfit Wisdom, with 15,300 tons of fertilizer, and Cattleya Ace, with 651 cars.
