KARACHI, Feb 6: Azhar Shafiq led from the front with a 95-ball 90 to help Pakistan Customs defeat Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) by five wickets in the second round Group ‘A’ match of Patron’s Cup on Monday.

Customs, chasing 187, achieved their second win on the trot with more than 13 overs to spare at the UBL Sports Complex.

The left-handed Azhar missed out on a well-deserved century when he holed out to mid-off off slow left-armer Imran Khalid. His splendid innings was laced with 10 fours and two sixes.

Earlier, SNGPL struggled from the beginning and crashed to 31 for three by the ninth over after being put into bat.

Former Test batsmen Mohammad Hafeez (21 off 26 balls) and skipper Misbahul Haq (33 off 36) failed to make significant contributions.

For the second round running, the sponsors of the event were absent and no prize was given to the Man-of-the-Match. Even the PCB hierarchy is least bothered about the whole affair and has not yet taken any notice how this tournament is being organized.
