KARACHI, Feb 6: The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), Sindh chapter, has strongly condemned the custodial death of one, Hasan Gichki, and claimed that its fact-finding team had examined the under-trial prisoner’s body at an Edhi centre and found marks of torture on it.
Gichki, a cousin of Balochistan National Party (BNP) chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal, died a few days back and police claimed he had suffered a fatal heart stroke. The HRCP, in a statement issued here on Monday, urged the Sindh government to order a high-level inquiry into the incident and take preventive measures in this regard.—PPI
