HYDERABAD: Kashmir day observed in Sindh towns

HYDERABAD, Feb 5: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal on Sunday took out a procession in Hyderabad to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir. The procession started from the Phulelli Tanga stand and terminated at the Mustafa Masjid chowk.

MNA from Karachi Mohammad Hussain Mehnati and local leaders, including MPA Abdul Rehman Rajput, Abdul Waheed Qureshi, Shaikh Shaukat, Shia Ulema Council leader Nizamul Hyderi and Dr Fawad Ahmed led the procession.

Speaking on the occasion, Hussain Mehnati said Kashmir was the jugular vein of Pakistan but the rulers had left it on the mercy of India.

SUKKUR: Naib Amir of the Jamat-i-Islami MNA Asadullah Bhutto has termed General Musharraf’s policies as a hurdle in way to the Kashmir solution.

He was addressing a protest rally on Sunday at the Clock Tower in Sukkur on eve of the Kashmir day.

The rally gathered at the tower after marching through various thoroughfares of the city.

The naib amir said India was constructing the Baghliar dam in Kashmir which was a conspiracy to deprive Pakistan of its waters while President Musharraf wanted to sell three Kahmiri rivers to India.

MIRPURKHAS: Processions were taken out and meetings were held here on Sunday to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir.

A Kashmir camp was set up by the MMA at the market chowk.

MMA leaders Abdul Ghaffar Umer, Ahsan Ellahi, Hafeez Siyal, taluka president Lala Noor and Jamiat Ahl-i-Hadees ameer Maulana Ramzan led a rally.

Another rally was taken out by Mirpurkhas education EDO Haji Rahu.

The Mirpurkhas Special Sports and Welfare Association also took out a procession.

A seminar was chaired by Abdul Qayum Shahid, president of the Shehri Ittehad Tanzeem at a local hotel.

SANGHAR: The Kashmir day was observed in the district town and talukas on Sunday.

A procession was taken out from the Sanghar taluka office to the press club.

District Naib Nazim Dr Mehmood Ahmed Rajput said Kashmir’s 70 per cent population was Muslim and a UN resolution was also passed in favour of Pakistan.

Taluka Nazim Saeed Nizamani said the Pakistani nation was with its Kashmiri brothers.

He demanded from the superpowers and the UN to solve the Kashmir issue.

Similar rallies were also taken out at Tando Adam and Shahdadpur.

NAWABSHAH: The MMA took out a procession here on Sunday to support the Kashmiris.

The workers were led by MPA Hameedullah Khan, Suroor Ahmed Qureshi and Aslam Shaikh.

The procession started from the Jamat-i-Islami office and culminated at the Chakra bazaar.

The workers were carrying banners and placards and were raising slogans.

MPA Khan said thousands of Kashmiris sacrificed their lives to become part of Pakistan but the government was not serious about their wish.

Allama Qambar Abbas Rizvi also spoke on the occasion.

MITHI: A complete strike was observed here on Sunday and a procession was taken out by the Jamat-i-Islami to mark the Kashmir day.

Participants of the procession gathered at the Kashmir chowk.

Sindh JI leader Mir Buledi said Kashmir was part of Pakistan and demanded from India to give Kashmiris self-determination.
