KARACHI: Pro-govt feudal lords in a fix: Mumtaz

KARACHI, Feb 5: The pro-government feudal lords in Sindh are in a fix over the idea of dams on river Indus as their approval may invite wrath of the masses and disapproval will anger their masters in the corridors of power.

This was observed by Sardar Mumtaz Ali Bhutto, chairman of the Sindh National Front (SNF), in a statement issued here on Sunday.

He said that the Sindh-based feudal lords loyal to the government would face strong reaction from all quarters if the dams were constructed. The chief reason for their support to the dams idea was their desire to keep on accumulating gains and favours from the federal government.

Sardar Bhutto stressed that the reservations of Sindh people viz-a-viz the dams issue must be addressed.

The SNF chief also condemned the hike in sugar prices and proposed that all sugar mills be nationalized to ensure control on sugar price and proper rates of sugarcane to growers.—PPI
