Fawad century guides Customs home

KARACHI, Feb 4: A brilliant unbeaten century by Fawad Alam guided Pakistan Customs to a five wicket win in a high-scoring Patron’s Cup one-day fixture against KRL at the NBP Sports Complex on Saturday.

Fawad, a talented left-handed batsman, finished with 100 off 106 balls with six boundaries as Customs reached their target of 286 in 48.5 overs.

Afsar Nawaz also made a vital contribution of 67 and helped Fawad add 147 for the fourth-wicket which tilted the match towards Customs. Afsar’s 75-ball knock was spiced with five fours and one six.

Earlier, pinch-hitter Abdur Rauf bludgeoned 91 off 106 balls and opener Saeed Anwar 60 as KRL ended up with 285 for nine after Customs skipper Azhar Shafiq elected to bowl first.

Rauf hit four fours and two sixes and Saeed Anwar struck six boundaries in his 94-ball innings. The two of them shared a second-wicket stand worth 116.
