HYDERABAD, Feb 4: Doctors who had passed SPSC examinations held a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Saturday against cancellation of the results by the Sindh chief minister.

They raised slogans against the cancellation of the results announced by the Sindh Public Service Commission.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ghulam Haider Khokhar, Dr Lala Yasir, Dr Khalid Khanzada and others condemned the chief minister’s decision.

They termed the step an attack on the integrity and credibility of the SPSC.

They alleged that the Sindh government wanted to accommodate only children of feudal lords and politicians in government service.

They said this was murder of merit and added that 90 per cent of candidates who had passed the examinations were children of the poor.

They hailed the SPSC for refusing the government pressure and announcing the results on merit.

The doctors warned that if the cancellation orders were not withdrawn, they would approach the high court and enlarge the scope of their protest.

They appealed to the president and the prime minister to take notice of the matter.

RANI BAGH: The district government has decided to develop the Rani Bagh on self-help basis, instead of build, operate and transfer system.

The unanimous decision was taken at a meeting of local body representatives and stakeholder organizations held at the district naib nazim’s office on Saturday.

District Naib Nazim Zaffar Rajput, who is also the head of a committee constituted by the district nazim to upgrade the Rani Bagh, presided over the meeting.

The meeting discussed different options to execute development schemes either by the public-private partnership or the district government.

Mr Rajput told the meeting that the district nazim had constituted the committee to achieve consensus of public representatives of the Qasimabad taluka because the revenue to be earned from the Rani Bagh would be a source of income for the Qasimabad TMA.
