KARACHI, Feb 4: The leaders of mainstream religious and political parties at an all parties’ conference on Saturday condemned the present government for withdrawing from the UN resolutions on Kashmir issue, and demanded restoration of the previous Kashmir policy without accepting foreign dictation.

The APC on “Future of Kashmir” was organized by the Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUP) and was addressed by leaders of the Jamaat-i-Islami, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), JUI-S, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Pakistan Peoples Party, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and other parties.

A resolution was unanimously adopted, saying that the government was jeopardizing the dignity of the Pakistani nation by withdrawing from its principled stance on Kashmir. It demanded it to immediately step down.

The resolution said that efforts for making the Line of Control a permanent border and suggestions of self-governance and the United States of Kashmir amounted to getting rid of Kashmiris.

It said the opposition parties demanded the solution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN resolutions that guaranteed the right of self-determination to the Kashmiris.

It further demanded the government not to accept any foreign dictation on the Kashmir issue, restore the previous Kashmir policy, immediately halt the Balochistan operation, compel the US to apologize on Bajaur incident, and lodge strong protests with the governments whose papers had published blasphemous cartoons.

The JUP President, Syed Shah Faridul Haq, said the country’s religious and Islam-loving parties would not allow rulers to take a U-turn on Kashmir or to promote obscenity and vulgarity in the country. He said non-issues were being created to put the Kashmir issue in cold storage.

In his written message readout by Qazi Ahmed Noorani, he said holding of mixed marathons, promotion of obscenity and vulgarity, Kalabagh dam and operation in Balochistan were bids to divert the nation’s attention from Kashmir, but no comprises would be allowed on Kashmir.

The Acting President of JUP-Karachi, Haleem Khan Ghauri, urged collective efforts against the government to prevent it from making illegal compromises on Kashmir and added that Kashmir could only be liberated through jihad and an armed struggle.

The JI Karachi Amir, Merajul Huda Siddiqui, criticized the government for its policies and said they even lacked courage to condemn the claims of India leaders of reuniting Pakistan and India.

He said during the last 20 years, many thousands of people had sacrificed their lives but none of them wore a military uniform.
