Imran grabs hat trick

LAHORE, Feb 2: Punjab and Sindh carved out convincing wins in the National U-14 football championship at Punjab Stadium on Thursday. A hat trick by Imran Abdullah helped Punjab open their campaign in great style by registering a 7-0 victory over Railways in a Group-B match.

Spearhead Imran struck in the 10th, 40th and 56th minute.

Other scorers were Nauman (29th and 37th minute), Osama (26th min) and skipper Bilal (45th min). Punjab led 3-0 at interval.

Defending champions Sindh proved too good for Divisional Public School (DPS), Lahore 4-2.

The losers, who managed to hold Azad Kashmir to a goalless draw in the opener failed to perform similar performance against Sindh.

Usman Mansoor was the star for Sindh scoring in the 8th and 41st minute.

Sindh, who led the first half 3-0. Other Sindh goalgetters were Junaid Qadir (30th min) and Waqas (26th min).

DPS reducd the margin through Ehsan (46th min) and skipper Nasir Dar (59th min).

As many as four protest were lodged against entering overage players, a major of them were against Fata.
