Lawmaker angry over dropped agenda item

By Our Sports Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Feb 2: Senator Muhammad Enver Baig was on Thursday fuming after an agenda item seeking explanation from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over Niaz Stadium Hyderabad was dropped from a forthcoming meeting.

The meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Sports is to be held on Feb 13 in Islamabad. Its agenda omits the item relating to PCB from whom Enver and two other senators had wanted a written reply why the stadium was not staging Tests or one- dayers.

“This matter has been dropped intentionally,” said Enver who was quick to point out in writing the omission to Senator Zafar Iqbal Chaudhry the head of the committee. He also sent a copy to the Chairman of Senate.

A notification from the senate secretariat said that the meeting will take up the following matters:

1. The deteriorating condition of the stadium 2. An explanation from District Nazim and DCO Hyderabad why the stadium was not being utilised for cricket and why marriage ceremonies are allowed there.

Enver, along with Senators Dr. Murad Ali Shah and M. Aslam Buledi had put in a requisition for holding the meeting.
