Blasphemous cartoons spark protest in Multan

By A Correspondent

MULTAN, Feb 2: Scores of the interns of a religious school run by the Jamaat-i-Islami Pakistan staged a protest demonstration here on Thursday to condemn publication of some blasphemous cartoons.

The enraged students gathered in front of their school — Jamia Al-aloom — and burnt flags of Denmark and France and effigy of the Danish president. They urged the Muslims to boycott products of these countries.

They also urged the leadership of Muslim countries to collectively demand an unequivocal apology from the states where the blasphemous cartoons were published in the newspapers and magazines.
