MARDAN, Feb 2: The district police arrested 495 proclaimed offenders, including 130 wanted for heinous crimes, and recovered weapons and narcotics in January, says a press release issued by the district police officer.

According to it, the 130 were wanted in the cases of murder, attempt to murder, car theft and kidnapping for ransom.

Police recovered 23 Kalashnikovs, six Kalakovs, 22 rifles, 29 shotguns, 226 pistols, five knives, three hand grenades, 5,984 cartridges of various bores and 26 kilogramme of hashish during January 2006.
