ISLAMABAD, Feb 2: The National Assembly will meet at the Parliament House here on Friday — three days after a session requisitioned by the opposition was prorogued by Speaker Chaudhry Amir Hussain.
According to the calendar for the fourth parliamentary year, the government planned to convene the 32nd session of the NA on February 13. However, due to the opposition’s move to requisition a session, the speaker convened the 31st session on January 17.
The opposition had requisitioned the session on a three-point agenda, but the session was prorogued on January 30 without taking up any of the items. The opposition members wanted a debate on the Balochistan operation, increase in oil prices and construction of the Kalabagh dam. However, the opposition members decided to take up the issue of the January-13 US attack on Bajaur Agency when the assembly met on January 17 and the speaker exercised his power to adjourn the session for 10 days.
On January 27, the session was adjourned again due to the death of Khan Abdul Wali Khan.
Sources in the opposition told Dawn that they would once again raise the issues when the assembly met on Friday.
