HYDERABAD, Feb 2: Sindh Home Minister Abdul Rauf Siddiqui presided over a meeting at the circuit house here on Wednesday to review a security plan prepared by police for maintaining law and order in the region during Muharram.
He directed police officers to perform duties in rotation round-the-clock during Muharram. He directed to activate intelligence network and identify anti-social elements and stressed the need for deployment of sufficient force and ensuring roof monitoring during Majalis and processions.
He said that all areas should be kept under vigilance, especially sensitive areas.
Briefing the home minister, Hyderabad DIGP Mazhar Shaikh said separate security plans had been prepared for each district of the region to maintain law and order during Muharram.
He said close-circuit cameras would be installed and roof monitoring conducted to maintain vigilance on activities of miscreants.
He said no new entry pass would be issued to ulema and scheduled routes of processions would not be changed.
Mr Shaikh said a comprehensive traffic plan would be implemented to ensure easy passage of processions. He said religious organizations and district governments had assured cooperation in maintaining law and order.
The home minister also presided over a joint meeting of ulema and police officers at Shahbaz Hall and expressed satisfaction over the security plan prepared by the Hyderabad police and cooperation extended by the district government and religious organizations in maintaining law and order and the spirit of brotherhood in the district.
He directed Hesco and HDA managements to meet their obligations so that participants of mourning processions did not face any problems.
District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil said the district government had also prepared a security plan in which all organizations concerned had been put on alert.
