KARACHI, Feb 2: The management of the Sindh Workers Children Education Board is taking all necessary steps to provide modern education at par with private schools for the workers’ children in the province.

The board has so far established four model schools in Korangi, Landhi (Karachi), Hyderabad and Sukkur where 3,699 students both boys and girls are currently enrolled.

This information was given to Sindh Labour Minister Mohammed Adil Siddiqui at a briefing on the performance of the board for the year 2005, said a news release here on Thursday.

The minister was informed that on his directives the construction of intermediate college building in Kotri had been completed where workers’ children were also getting education.

To further improve the quality of education in these schools, the board last year had also obtained the membership of the Aga Khan University Institute of Educational Development.

The minister directed the secretary to start classes at the Intermediate College, Kotri immediately and keeping in view the number of workers working in different institutions, more workers’ model schools should be established and efforts should be made to improve their standard.—APP
