Plgmea seeks removal of EPB VC

Published February 3, 2006

KARACHI, Feb 2: Pakistan Leather Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (Plgmea) has threatened to boycott Expo Pakistan 2006 to mark their protest against misbehaviour of the EPB vice-chairman and other officials of the bureau.

In a hurriedly called press conference on Thursday, Plgmea chairman and members of the managing committee demanded the removal of EPB vice-chairman Zafar Mahmood and a director Dr Mohammad Usman. They further said that Plgmea would boycott the Expo Pakistan 2006, to be held at Expo Centre in the last week of March, if their demand was not met. Plgmea chief said that from beginning of the meeting the attitude of the EPB vice-chairman was very arrogant. He said that the Plgmea team wanted to discuss the issue of non-payment of freight subsidy but the EPB vice-chairman refused to listen to despite the fact that it was part of the pre-agreed agenda of the meeting.
