SUKKUR, Feb 1: The first meeting of the Sukkur District Council began on Wednesday amid uproar by members of the opposition who wanted to adopt a resolution against the Kalabagh dam, NFC award and arrest of Hindu Panchayat president Eshwar Lal.

The opposition members also criticized the district nazim and the DCO.

Convener Abdullah Ghumro presided over the meeting.

While District Nazim Syed Nasir Hussain Shah was delivering his speech, the opposition members stood up and demanded to adopt a resolution against the Kalabagh project, NFC award and arrest of Eshwar Lal in what they called a false theft case.

However, the convener did not allow them to table the resolution after which the opposition members staged a walkout and the session was adjourned.
