Two die in tribal clash

SUKKUR, Feb 1: Two persons were killed in an armed clash between Lehar and Hajija communities, in the Jamal Din Hajija Village, near Garhi Khairo late on Tuesday night.

Police claimed that Lehar and Hajija communities had been fighting for some time owing to an old dispute.

On Tuesday a group of armed Lehars raided the village and opened indiscriminate firing, killing Fida Hussain, 30, and Hassan Ali.

The attackers fled from the scene.

Later, Garhi Khairo police registered an FIR No: 05/2006 against 22 Lehar tribesmen including, Baboo, Iqbal, Zafar, Mushtaq, Rafiq, Lal Jan, Sattar, Hayat, Razoo and others. No arrest was reported till filing of this report.

Kashmir Day: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal will observe Kashmir Solidarity Day on Feb 5.

In this connection, the Sukkur chapter of the party announced a programme at a press conference at the office of the Jamaat-i-Islami here on Wednesday.
