Protest against rise in crimes

JACOBABAD, Feb 1: Hundreds of activists of different political parties took out a procession here on Wednesday in protest against deteriorating law and order situation in the city.

People’s Party Parliamentarians, PPP-SB, Sindh Taraqi Pasand party, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam, Jamat-i-Islami, JSQM, Sindh National Front, Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf, Mazdoor Federation, Sarafa Association, Naujawan Shehri Ittehad, Khaksar Tehrik and Bar Association participated in the procession.

It started from the Sarafa Bazaar and after marching through various roads reached the city TPO office and city police station.

The protesters staged a sit-in and raised slogans on failure of police to control crimes.

They were carrying placards, banners and flags.

The protesters then reached the DCO square and observe a sit-in.

Later, they went to the press club.

Heavy contingent of police moved with the procession.

Speakers – Nadeem Qureshi, Ali Lashari, Abdul Sattar, Hafiz Mir Banglani, Imdadul Haq, Ghulam Sarwar, Sajjad Ghanio, Ghulam Nabi, Maula Bux Khoso and Ghazanfar Pathan – said the incidents of motorcycle snatching, thefts and house robberies were increased to alarming level.

They demanded an affective role of police and punishments for criminals.
