MMA launches Kashmir solidarity drive

ISLAMABAD, Feb 1: Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) on Wednesday announced a five-day campaign to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir. The five-day campaign has been launched in connection with the Kashmir Day observed on February 5.

The details of the campaign were announced in a press conference by Naib Amir Jamaat-i-Islami, Punjab, Mian Aslam, here.

Mian Aslam said that the MMA workers and supporters would form a human chain near Aabpara on February 5. He said MMA President Qazi Hussain Ahmad, Secretary-General Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Maulana Abdur Rauf, Hamid Raza Bhatti and a number of leaders would also address a rally. Later on, they would march towards the UN local offices to present a memorandum to the country representative of the world body.

Preparations for the Kashmir Day will begin from Thursday with meetings and gatherings of MMA and allied parties, Mian Aslam said. On February 3, public meetings will be arranged to highlight the Kashmir issue. Besides, Kashmir funds will also be collected.
