KARACHI, Jan 31: Pakistan captain Inzamamul Haq on Tuesday was named “Cricketer of the Year for 2005” and Test wicket-keeper/batsman Kamran Akaml as the emerging player of the year award.
Committee headed by secretary cefence Lt. Gen. (Retd) Tariq Wasim Ghazi with former Test captain Zaheer Abbas, Gul Hameed Bhatti and Tanvir Ahmed as its members selected the players for award.
Announcing the decision, Tariq Wasim at National Stadium during the post tea session on the third day of third and final cricket Test between Pakistan and India, said performance of the player between Jan-Dec 31, 2005, was taken into the consideration while picking the player.
Cricketer-of-the-Year Award carries Rs.500,000 and Emerging Player-of-the-Year Award sponsored by the family of Pakistan’s Legendary captain Abdul Hafeez Kardar carries Rs. 200,000.—APP
