KARACHI, Jan 31: The National snooker championship would be held in Lahore in the last week of February, Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) announced on Tuesday.

Punjab Billiards and Snooker Association will hold the championship, in which 48 cueists from all the provinces will feature.

President PBSA Asghar Valika said that the schedule of ten-day event would be finalised within next few days after the Punjab BSA had struck a deal with a sponsor.

Prior to it, provincial events would be conducted in Karachi, Lahore, Quetta and Peshawar to pick players for the national event, he said.

In the meantime Pakistan has been invited to participate in the US$6,500 Kataria memorial international snooker championship to be organised in Dubai on April 2-7. The UAE Billiards and Snooker Association will conduct the event.

The event involves China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, India, the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan. The teams will comprise three cueists and one official, each.—APP
