Umar guides CC lift trophy

LAHORE, Jan 31: Fine batting by Umar Akmal helped Cricket Centre (CC) win the 1st Col Fateh Sher Khan memorial cricket league beating Model Town Greens (MTG) in final by seven wickets on Tuesday.

Umar scored 80 as the winners raced to the target of 235 for the loss of three wickets in 35 overs.

He struck 12 fours and received good support from Khalid Habib (60, seven fours) Ali Dar (56, six fours) and Rizwan Aslam 40.

Batting first, the losers were restricted from a big total by Khalid who took four wickets for 30 while Hafiz Usman (3-40) and Muneeb (3-35) also bowled well. Kamran Younis (70, nine fours) and Faisal Javed (50, six fours) were the top scorers.

The winners received Rs 100,000 while the losers picked up Rs 50,000.

Waqar Ahmad (MTG), Munir, Umar Akmal (CC) and Kashif (Ludhiana Gymkhana) were declared best bowler, Man-of-The-Tournament, best batsman and best wicket-keeper.

Khalid was voted the Man-of-the-Final.
