LARKANA, Jan 31: Regional police officer Mohammad Akbar Arain has urged ulema of different sects to shun their differences and help ensure peace and tranquillity during Muharram.

He was presiding over a joint meeting of ulema and police officers of the Larkana region at the DIGP office here on Tuesday.

The meeting decided that Muharram processions would be allowed on permitted routes and called upon ulema to cooperate with law-enforcement agencies in this regard.

Control rooms will be established at offices of the Larkana DIGP and DPOs of Larkana, Qambar-Shahdadkot, Shikarpur, Jacobabad and Kashmore. Control rooms will also be established at offices of taluka police officers in the region.

The meeting was told that the Sindh home department had banned display of all kinds of arms and a person who violated the order would be booked under section 188, PPC. Pillion riding will also not be allowed in limits of TMAs in the region.

The RPO asked TPOs to record speeches of ulema so that no objectionable speech was made.

The meeting decided to make available ambulances at 15 centres to meet any emergency.

The RPO can be contacted on his cellphone number 0333-2197454 in case of any emergency so that timely action could be taken.

Larkana DIGP Akhtar Hassan Gorchani briefed the meeting about precautionary measures taken in districts of the region.

He said law-enforcement agencies would be deployed at sensitive points.
