KARACHI, Jan 31: Sindh Chief Minister’s Adviser on Food and Agriculture, Mir Murtaza Jatoi, has said that agriculture department will provide sprinkles, drip system, threshers and tube-wells on subsidized rates, and the Sindh government has allocated Rs142 million in this regard.

Presiding over a review meeting in his office on Tuesday, the adviser said that the economy of Sindh depended on agriculture, and revolutionary steps to promote agricultural activities were the need of the hour.

Murtaza Jatoi said that Rs40 million and Rs20 million were allocated for the provision of sprinkles and drip systems, respectively. He explained that to purchase the system, 20 per cent of the cost would have to be paid by the agriculturists, while the rest will be borne by the government.

The adviser told the meeting that for the installation of tube-wells, Sindh government would pay 50 per cent of the cost. He said applications may be submitted to office of Director-General on Farm Water Management and Agricultural Engineering, Sindh, Shehbaz Building, Thandi Sarak, Hyderabad.—PPI
