FA Cup Draw: Liverpool, United in clash of titans

LONDON, Jan 30: Liverpool were drawn to play Manchester United in the outstanding tie of the fifth round of the FA Cup on Monday. Favourites Chelsea will play third division Colchester United if they beat Everton in their fourth round replay at Stamford Bridge next week.

Third division Brentford’s reward for beating Premier League Sunderland on Saturday is a short trip across London to more Premier League opposition, Charlton Athletic.

Bolton Wanderers, who knocked holders Arsenal out on Saturday, will meet West Ham United, a repeat of the first Cup final played at Wembley Stadium when it opened in 1923.

The new Wembley has a 70 per cent chance of staging this year’s final on May 13, constructors announced on Monday. If it is not ready it will be played in Cardiff.

In other matches, Newcastle United will play Southampton, Aston Villa will face Manchester City while Birmingham City or Reading will play Stoke City and either Coventry City or Middlesbrough will play Crystal Palace or Preston North End.

The matches will be played on the weekend of Feb 18 and 19.

Fifth round draw:
