KARACHI: Dawn Group’s ‘Education Expo’ gets under way

KARACHI, Jan 30: The two-day Dawn Education Expo-2006, the third of its series organized by the Dawn Group of Newspapers, formally got under way at the Expo Centre here on Monday.

Executives and councillors from various local and foreign educational institutions, diplomats and other professionals are present at the exhibition to provide information about admission and career to visiting students and their parents. A large number of such visitors throng the exhibition on the first day of the event.

As many as 110 local and foreign educational institutions have set up their stalls.

More than 70 British universities and colleges have their stalls at the UK Pavilion whereas the Australian Pavilion has 10 such stalls. Many other educational institutions of the United States, United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Malaysia have set up their separate counters in different halls of the Expo Centre.

More than 100,000 visitors are expected to visit the exhibition in two days and interact with the local and foreign education/career counsellors to explore the opportunity of enrolment on the spot.

According to the organizers, the exhibition facilitates the search by local and foreign educational institutions for right candidates on the one hand, and helps local students select the best institution for their education and career in the world, on the other.

The visitors will also be able to get all their required information with regard to scholarship programmes of various universities.

The participating foreign institutions are also holding seminars on the sidelines of the exhibition for providing information about education abroad. —APP
