KARACHI: New KBA members take oath


KARACHI, Jan 30: The judiciary is completely independent and would not bow to any pressure from any quarter, said Chief Justice of High Court of Sindh (SHC), Justice Sabihuddin Ahmed here on Monday.

He was addressing members of Karachi Bar Association (KBA) after administering oath to the newly-elected members of the managing committee for 2006 at a ceremony held at City Courts complex.

Responding to the speech by newly-elected honorary secretary, Nadeem Qureshi, he said issue of site for judicial complex would be taken up with relevant quarters but at present he was not in a position to make any promise.

Referring to parking space problem, he would discuss the matter with Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany who was in charge of lower courts at Karachi.

Earlier Nadeem Qureshi, General Secretary of KBA and Mehmood-ul-Hasan president, also spoke.—APP
