KARACHI: Water purification plant set up in Malir
KARACHI, Jan 30: Director-General of Pakistan Rangers Major-General Javed Zia inaugurated a water purification plant at Jaffar-i-Tayyar Society in Malir Town on Monday.
Speaking as the chief guest, Javed Zia said Pakistan Rangers had in the past installed a number of water purification plants for the provision of potable water to the people in different parts of Karachi and in the interior of Sindh.
The deputy director-general of Rangers, Brig Taqqadas Ahmed Lodhi, high officials of Rangers and Town Nazim Sheikh Mohammad Anser as well as elite of the city were also present on the occasion.
He expressed the determination that for the establishment of cordial relations between the people and the Rangers more such steps would be taken.
Maj-Gen Javed Zia, on the occasion, talking to Ulema said the Rangers would maintain high alert during Muharram and extraordinary security steps in this regard had been taken.
He said that besides patrolling on important thoroughfares and sensitive areas, a large number of rangers had been deployed around Imamgargahs and mosques to prevent any untoward incident during Aushara.
He said Rangers were in close contact with police and town administration and a strategy was being formulated with their cooperation.
The Rangers DG appealed to the Ulema to play their role in creating religious harmony among people and cooperate with the law enforcement agencies to ensure peace during Muharram. — APP
