KARACHI: More police reporting centres soon
KARACHI, Jan 30: The Karachi police have decided to establish ‘reporting centres’ in the city for quick response to public complaints, and spotted some 60 locations in its 18 towns.
This was decided at a meeting held under the chairmanship IG Police Sindh, Jahangir Mirza.
The Capital City Police Officer(CPO) Karachi while briefing the meeting revealed that as many as 60 locations within 18 towns of Karachi have been identified for establishment of such reporting centres. The objective behind this was to provide immediate relief to citizens.
Besides, the CPO further disclosed that visitor’s room in every police station was also being constructed to facilitate citizens. All type of facilities would be extended to the people visiting police station, including proper sitting accommodation, availability of drinking water, wash rooms, etc.
During the presentation on functioning of Karachi Police, the meeting was informed that after implementation of Police Order 2002 it was felt necessary to house all officers of different branches of Karachi Police, including Operation, Investigation and Traffic in one complex. This would not only improve the efficiency of the police department but also redress public grievance under, one roof.
It was also announced that Karachi Police have planned to construct “Town Police Complex” in every town in different phases. Under phase-1, three such complexes are under construction at Saddar, Jamshed and Malir Towns, whereas Liaquatabad and Baldia Towns have been selected for the phase-2.
The Capital City Police, Karachi, also briefed the meeting about the structure of Karachi police with special reference to the responsibilities of the offices/ officials besides overall law and order situation and performance of Karachi Police.—PPI
