LAHORE, Jan 29: The four pound relief given by the Lahore Race Club (LRC) stewards to a colt, Sindbad, came as a bolt from blue to enable him to win the feature event at Racecourse on Sunday.

As the handicaps were released on Thursday last the owner of colt, Sindbad, lodged a complaint that his colt was penalised harshly in the handicap.

A stewards meeting held under LRC chairman Tariq Aziz, took up owner Iftikhar Ali’s appeal and decided to drop the colt by four pounds, bringing his weight from 8-10 to down at 8-6 in the handicap.

The race was won by Sindbad with a close margin of three-fourth of a length from another colt, Herry Can Run, owned by Khawaja M. Arif, an LRC steward.—A.G.
