Teachers’ protest tomorrow

LAHORE, Jan 29: The Punjab Teachers Action Committee has announced an educational boycott on Tuesday (tomorrow) to protest against the anti-teacher policies.

Committee chairman Hafiz Abdul Nasir and secretary-general Jan Alam Khan said in a statement that the teachers at the government schools throughout the province would boycott classes and travel to the provincial metropolis to hold a protest meeting at Nasser Bagh.

Teacher representatives Rana Muhammad Arshad and Muhammad Azam would lead the processions here.

They said the wrong policies of the government had compelled them to protest. The teachers were being victimized and degraded through enforcement of the district cadre system and handing over the schools to the NGOs, they said, also denouncing appointments on a contract for offering no job security. — Reporter
