LARKANA, Jan 29: Activists of the PPP on Sunday took out a procession in protest against issuing of red notices against Benazir Bhutto and Asif Zardari. They marched on the main roads of city and assembled outside the Jinnahbagh. They burnt tyres and blocked the road. They gathered outside the press club.
Speaking on the occasion, MNA Anwar Bhutto, Saleem Soomro, Nasiban Channo, Husna Abro and Abdul Ghani Jatoi termed the move to defame and pressurize the PPP leadership to come to terms with the rulers.
“No court has convicted Ms Bhutto and the government is instituting fake cases against them” they said.
They called for withdrawing red notices and criticized the government for launching a military operation in Balochistan.
They said that US forces were attacking and killing innocents people in the country.
They called the National Finance Commission award unjust and criticized the government’s move of constructing Kalabagh dam despite being opposed by three provincial assemblies.
PROTEST PLAN: District president of the PPP in Tando Mohammad Khan and former MPA Mohammad Amin Lakho has said that protest demonstrations will be held at all district headquarters on Monday in protest against issuing of red notices to Benazir Bhutto and her husband Asif Ali Zardari through Interpol.
He was speaking at a news conference here on Sunday.
He said no one could force Ms Bhutto to return to Pakistan and she would return to the country whenever she wished.
The PPP district president said party workers were anxiously waiting for her return and they would welcome her warmly.
He said the former prime minister and her husband were awarded sentences through conspiracies but they were acquitted honourably.
He said Ms Bhutto would produce herself only before people’s court.
He alleged that many cases of corruption were pending with the NAB against federal and provincial ministers but no action was taken against them.
Mr Lakho accused military bureaucracy of looting national wealth.
MNA: MNA Nawab Abdul Ghani Talpur has said that the government wanted to pressurize the PPP.
In a statement, he said the former prime minister had announced that she would return to the country after announcement of election schedule.
He said the red notice was aimed to keep her away from the country as long as possible.
He said Ms Bhutto and her husband would not be blackmailed through such notices.
