CHARSADDA, Jan 28: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Saturday visited Wali Bagh, residence of nationalist leader Khan Abdul Wali Khan in Charsadda, to condole with members of the bereaved family.
Mr Aziz met president of the ANP Senator Asfandyar Wali Khan, elder son of late Wali Khan, and prayed for the departed soul. He placed a wreath on the grave of the veteran nationalist.
Wali Khan’s widow, Begum Nasim Wali, and other members of the family were present on the occasion.
Paying tribute to late Wali Khan, Mr Aziz said the country had lost a seasoned and principled politician, who always upheld values and norms of democracy.
He said Wali Khan had worked for the promotion of healthy political culture in the country because of which the people would long remember him.
Earlier, the prime minister was received by NWFP Governor Khalilur Rehman, Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani and senior officials.
Leaders from across the country visited Wali Bagh on Saturday and pay tribute to the late veteran politician.
President Gen Pervez Musharraf, who is on foreign visit, telephoned Asfandyar Wali and offered sympathies over the demise of Abdul Wali Khan, the family sources said.
Former prime minister Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi, former governor Mohammad Aslam Khan Khattak, Federal Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad, Education Minister Javed Ashraf Qazi and other ministers visited Charsadda and condoled death of the nationalist leader Khan Abdul Wali.
People from all walks of life visited Wali Bagh Charsadda and paid tributes to the late nationalist politician.
