PESHAWAR, Jan 28: Chancellor of Gandhara University Mrs Roeada Kabir distributed 285 degrees among the successful graduates at the first convocation of the university held here at a local hotel on Saturday.
In all 22 best graduates were decorated with gold medals for showing outstanding performance. Alia Jehan (of session 2003) received the best medical graduate award of Kabir Medical College while Iffat Hissamudin and Israr Ahmad Khan obtained gold medals in medical discipline for the year 2004 and 2005 respectively. The same three also obtained Prof Surgeon Mohammad Kabir gold medals in surgery for the year 2003, 2004 and 2005.
Similarly, Bibi Maryam was given gold medal for the best dental graduate for the year 2002 whereas Imran Tipu, Ayesha Hussain and Suman Mohammad Wazir were given gold medals in the same category for the year 2003, 2004 and 2005 respectively.
Samina Habib obtained gold medal for top position in master of education for the year 2005 while Faryal Fareed received gold medal in B-Pharmacy for the year 2003.
Speaking at the function Vice-Chancellor Gandhara University, Prof Dr Rasheed Ahmad Tahirkheli said that despite being a new institute the university owes the distinctive position and have successfully marched on the path of prominence.
He appreciated the services of the founder and first chancellor of Gandhara University, late renowned surgeon Dr Mohammad Kabir for having rendered meritorious services for the institute.—APP
