ISLAMABAD, Jan 28: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz was awarded the Congressional Medal of Achievement by the House of Representatives of Philippines on Jan 27, said a statement issued here ON Saturday.

Pakistan’s Ambassador Muhammad Naeem Khan received the medal from the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Philippines Jose De Venecia on behalf of the prime minister.

The ceremony was attended by Congressional leaders and the staff of the House of Representatives of the Philippines. The award was given on the margins of the Global Inter-faith Dialogue and inaugural meeting of the Centrist Democrat International (CDI) Asia-Pacific Chapter, which is being held in Manila from Jan 26-30.

The citation accompanying the medal lauds Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz contribution to the political and economic stability of Pakistan both as prime minister and finance minister of the country. It recalls his illustrious career as a successful banker having varied experience of working in several countries including the Philippines.

Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, PML secretary-general, was also awarded a Congressional Medal of Achievement by the House of Representatives of the Philippines on Jan 27 in recognition of his political, diplomatic and parliamentary accomplishments.
