KARACHI, Jan 28: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has announced Rs1.5 million cash prize for the policemen who took part in the operation in Dadu district to recover three traders who were kidnapped in Karachi.

He made the announcement during a meeting with a delegation, led by IG Jahangir Mirza, at the Chief Minister’s House here on Friday. The other members of the delegation were RPO Hyderabad Bachal Sangri, DPO Dadu Rukhsar Khawar and ADP Hyderabad Capt (r) Pervez Chandio.

The IG apprised him of the operation in detail, and said that the traders, kidnapped in different incidents, had been recovered in Lashkar Hingoro village.

The chief minister stressed people to keep a vigilant eye on criminals in their surroundings and cooperate with police in rooting out crime. He appreciated the role of police in this regard, and impressed upon the police personnel to streamline their strategies on modern lines besides employing advanced techniques and methods to protect life and property of citizens.

He directed the home secretary to ensure stern action against those cellular phone service providing companies which were providing connections without adopting proper procedures, i.e. on submission of NIC copy with correct address of the subscriber.

He said action should be taken against such a company if it failed to provide the identity of a subscriber found involved in kidnapping or some other criminal act. He also urged the print and electronic media to play their due role in eradicating crime from society.—APP
