Cyprus waits to crown its miracle worker

NICOSIA, Jan 27: Cyprus is praying tennis star Marcos Baghdatis can complete his incredible giant killing journey in the Australian Open by beating Roger Federer in final.

Friday’s local press were in no doubt that the homegrown ace had already made dreams come true after the unseeded Baghdatis fought back from two sets down to trounce Argentina strongman David Nalbandian.

“The 13th God,” said Alithia’s front page, referring to Greek mythology.

Politis newspaper said: “It’s raining dreams”. While Haravghi summed up the delight of Cypriots with: “One breath away from a miracle”.—AFP
