KARACHI, Jan 27: Former Pakistan Test greats assailed preparations of dead wickets for first two Tests as both ended in draw in the high profile Pakistan-India series.
Hanif Muhammad, Zaheer Abbas and Mushtaq Muhammad on Friday expressed identical views about the pitches for the initial two Test matches and said it should have been prepared in the true spirit of the game.
Hanif added that pitches in Lahore and Faisalabad were real nightmares for the bowlers as batsmen enjoyed themselves but overall it was not good for cricket especially between the two arch rivals, which attracts record spectators.
“I think if wickets like the ones prepared in Lahore and Faisalabad would continue to be prepared then Test cricket would lose its charm even between Pakistan and India,” said Mushtaq.
Zaheer said that it was really sad to see both Test matches ending in draw just because of dead wickets and no one except local cricket officials must be blamed for these undesired results that has harmed cricket a lot.—PPI
