By Our Correspondent

GUJRANWALA, Jan 27: National Bank of Pakistan Regional Business Chief Chaudhry Mushtaq Ahmad on Friday suspended eight managers of different branches from service on the charge of embezzlement through wrong entries of rice stocks pledged by various dealers.

According to reports, the regional business chief checked the stock of rice pledged with the bank through inspectors and found its shortage in different branches.

The record showed more than Rs20 million worth rice as pledged with the bank, but the actual quantity was not there.

He subsequently gave two months to the branch managers for the recovery of the stock, but the branch managers failed to do so. They were suspended from service and an inquiry had been ordered against them.

Those suspended were: Nazir Ahmad Awan (Kamoki branch), Zahoor Ahmad Butt (Qila Deedar Singh), Tufail Mian (Muridkey), Rana Amjad Husain (Budkhey), Amanat Ali (Jabbaran), Mustansir Ahmad (Hafizabad), Shabbir Ahmad (Jalalpur Bhattian) and Abdul Majid Shahid (Khankah Dogran).

ACCIDENT: Two motorcyclists were killed in an accident near Wazirabad on Friday.

Qazi Abdul Wahid and Abbas Mughal were riding a motorcycle when a speeding car knocked them down. They were rushed to the DHQ hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.

Police have registered a case against the car driver.
